Start with launch type
A coordinated launch asks for concentrated attention and active participation. An evergreen listing remains discoverable without a single launch day. A niche directory trades reach for clearer category relevance.
Evergreen directories
Useful for ongoing discovery and brand profiles. Usually lower coordination, but moderation and eligibility still apply.
Scheduled launch platforms
Create a time-bound release moment. Preparation, timing, assets, and founder availability matter.
Niche catalogs
Smaller audiences can be more relevant when the taxonomy matches the product's exact job.
Owned audience
Email, customers, and existing social reach give the founder more control over timing and context.
Communities
Reddit, Hacker News, and similar spaces require authentic participation. They are not unattended submission forms.
Do not automate the social contract
Preparing product facts and tracking a launch are suitable agent tasks. Posting promotional messages, replying as the founder, voting, or manufacturing engagement are not passive directory work.
When a platform depends on founder presence, mark that work as owner-led instead of pretending the agent can run the full launch unattended.
Use a portfolio, not one launch bet
A reasonable launch plan can combine one coordinated event, several evergreen profiles, relevant niche catalogs, and direct communication to people who already care.
Record referral traffic and conversions by source after launch. A backlink alone does not prove the channel reached the right users.
